The Pledge-Helps out Road Runner Food Bank

For every pound you pledge to lose through May 31, 2011, the Pound For Pound Challenge will donate 11¢ to Feeding America® — enough to secure one pound of groceries on behalf of local food banks. $1,040,000 maximum donation.

I'm pledging to 15lbs...This helps out Road Runner Food Bank. Eating healthy natural and organic foods has already help me lose 38lbs. Ask me how to eat better and lose weight. It all comes back to the chemicals in our foods. Go organic!

Albuquerque, Rio Rancho and Santa Fe Ant series continued....why is baiting for ants the best method

Albuquerque, Rio Rancho and Santa Fe Ant series continued....why is baiting for ants the best method for control and how does it work? We have learned that the worker ants(the ones you see) are only 10% of the colony. We put those worker ants to work for us(they just don't know it). As ant workers look for food, they are attracted to the sweet liquid in the ant bait. Once a forging worker ant has found a food source they drop what it called a ‘trail pheromone’ back to the nest, letting all the other worker ants know where a food supply has been found. This is why you initially see more ants. Most baits interferes with the ants' digestive systems, eventually killing the ants within 24-48 hours after consumption. So, while the stuff in the bait will ultimately kill the worker ant, it works slowly enough that the worker has time to get back and share the bait with the colony. That’s the only way to get rid of both the ants you see and the thousands you don’t.

Albuquerque, Rio Rancho and Santa Fe Ant series continued

Albuquerque, Rio Rancho and Santa Fe Ant series continued....We learned yesterday not to kill off the worker ants you see. This is what happens when the colony reproduces double time. Spring time is when the colonies will be building up in numbers, A good ant program will use baits to eliminate the queens and reproductive ants. Different species of ants eat different things. Identifying what type of ant you have is the first thing that needs to be done. Knowing what ant your battling is very important. Its also important to remember that depending on where the colony is in its reproductive cycle also will dictates what food they will be after.

Ants -A new series for Albuquerque, Santa Fe , Rio Rancho and surrounding areas.

Ever wonder why it's so difficult to get rid of ants? Most people want to spray and kill the ants they see, This is a bad plan of attack. What you see is only 10% of the ant colony. Know mostly as the worker ants. If you kill off the worker ants, the queen or queens will start to reproduce double time. In a week or two what you thought was a small ant invasion has now doubled in size. More to come in the ant series for Rio Rancho, Albuquerque, Santa Fe and surrounding areas.
